Brandon Bellamy (bbellamy@howardcc.edu): Associate Director, Completion Services

Brandon Bellamy is the associate director of Completion Services. He has worked at Howard Community College since 2012. In addition to his primary responsibilities within Completion Services, he supports the work of all the cohort programs in our “Stronger Together” initiative in Academic Support Services. He is a 2008 graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, a 2010 graduate of the student affairs master’s program at Iowa State University, and a doctoral candidate in the Community College Leadership program at Morgan State University.

Ellen Chahanovich (echananovich@howardcc.edu): NURS 242 and NURS 244/245

Ellen is a nurse of 47 years, having graduated from Towson State University (it was Towson College, then!) and she earned her MBA in 2006. Her nursing experience has truly been exciting where she has been every kind of nurse EXCEPT a school nurse, as my husband was in the military. I have 4 children ranging from 27 to 37.

Her career spans the specialties of ICU (surgical, cardiac, thoracic, and neuro); Academia, Research, Case Management, Disease Management, Risk Management, and Quality & Performance Improvement. She has been a Hospital Float Nurse, Agency Nurse, Community Health Nurse, and an OR, Peri-op & Post Recovery Nurse. She has also had the opportunity to work in the insurance industry within some of these areas.

She looks forward to working with HCC's nursing students as they advance within the nursing curriculum, and she anticipates her students' love for nursing as much as her!

Daliah Halboni (dhalboni@howardcc.edu): BIOL 106, BIOL 203 and BIO 204

Daliah Halboni is a Pathways Completion Specialist for Anatomy and Physiology courses (BIOL106, 203, and 204). She is a board-certified family nurse practitioner who specializes in primary care with Johns Hopkins Medicine. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Frostburg State University and then earned her Master of Science degree at Walden University. She holds a national board certification with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She is also a Howard Community College alumni.

Jonathan Huff (jhuff@howardcc.edu) Complete 4 Success Advising Specialist

Jonathan is the Complete 4 Success Advising Specialist. He supports credit students who are near completers with funding and support provided by a grant from the Howard County government. Students are identified for this program by Financial Aid Services. Jonathan joins the Completion Services team for Financial Aid Services here at HCC. He has worked in higher education and public school systems for over 5 years. He is a former student-athlete at Frostburg State University and is pursuing continued education in business and finance.

Jennifer Killion (jkillion@howardcc.edu): BIO 107, CHEM 103, Embedded Academic Support - Coaching Model Development

Jennifer is excited to be returning for her 5th year as a Pathways Completion Specialist working with Allied Health students in SET. A former middle school teacher, she enjoys helping students identify and reach their educational goals. She loves going on outdoor adventures with her family in her spare time.

Jamira Newby (jnewby@howardcc.edu): BMGT100/151/203; CMSY-110; Business Pathway

Hi, my name is Jamira Newby, and I just recently started as a pathways completion specialist in mid-October 2023. I am a native of Columbia and a 2019 graduate of Howard Community College. Since graduating and transferring, I earned a Bachelor's degree in Strategic Communication from Morgan State University and, most recently, my Master's in Business administration (MBA) from Fitchburg State University. Much of my career was in digital public relations, but I now work in management with a regional bank in Washington, DC. It feels great to return to HCC and grow students' future.

Marlyn Oatts (moatts@howardcc.edu): English Composition and Information Literacy

Marlyn is the English Composition and Information Literacy Pathways Completion Specialist with the Office of Completion Services starting in March 2025. Marlyn has also served as a Master Adjunct in the English and World Language Departments joining faculty in the Fall of 2011. During her time here, she has taught ENGL 095, ENGL 121, INFO 100, the LEAP Program, and Middle College courses. Marlyn earned her bachelor's degree from Lincoln University in Pennsylvania and her Master of Science in Library Science from Atlanta University (now known as Clark Atlanta University). After 30 rewarding years as an educator, including 25 years as a Library Media Specialist in the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) at the elementary and middle school levels, she has retired.

Ellen W.jpg Ellen Wolf (ewolf@howardcc.edu) : Academic Standing

Ellen Wolf is a graduate of Michigan State University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Merchandising Management, dreaming of someday owning her own business. She was able to make that dream a reality. After retiring, she wasn’t sure what her next “journey” would be. Luckily she came to Howard Community College and enrolled in an accounting class and as they say, "the rest is history.” After successful completion of Accounting 111, she became an Accounting Peer-Leader, then chosen by the faculty to be in the Accounting Pilot Program as the completion specialist for Accounting 111 and Accounting 112, then moved over to be the Business pathway completion specialist, and now she is the academic standing completion specialist. She is passionate about student success and aims to retain, motivate, and guide students toward the completion of their goals. Ellen lives in Howard County with her husband of 27 years, daughter, and cat.
